Glaziers Local 1204 IIS/Mavid Contract Ratification - 5/31/2022

Foreman pay- $3.00/hr. when leading 4 (including foreman) installers on a consistent basis

The responsibilities of the foreman will include, but not be limited to the following: (a) directing the glazing crew in the performance of its daily duties, (b) representing the employer at jobsite meetings, (c) maintaining communications between the Employer, the general contractor, and the glazing crew relating to installation schedules and jobsite problems; (d) maintaining all required work logs, job schedules, material tracking lists, and paperwork required by the general contractor and/or the employer; (e) keeping track of the Employer’s tools, equipment and material on the jobsite; and (f) any mutually agreed upon procedures that may be specific to a project. (No change)

The glazier that qualifies as a foreman will be responsible for taking all appropriate and required training classes as well as maintaining all personal and safety certifications. (No change)

Article 17 – Vacation Pay

  • Eliminate vacation pay and add to weekly paycheck.

Article 18 Insurance – Group Health Insurance Coverage

  • Currently, the union health plan references their Plan A. According to our last meeting – the new union health plan will be based off the union’s Plan B and C coverage. Language in the contract should be changed to match this understanding (Article 18 Paragraph 2)

    • Current: New employees’ coverage is to be effective on the 1st of the month following Thirty (30) days of employment.
    • New: New employees’ coverage is to be effective on the 1st of the month following Sixty (60) days of employment.

    • Current: A Glazier may provide a thirty (30) day written notice to opt out of the Glaziers Group Health Insurance upon a qualifying event or during each calendar year open enrollment period.
    • New: A Glazier may provide a thirty (30) day written notice to opt in/out of the Glaziers Group Health Insurance upon a qualifying event or during each calendar year open enrollment period.
  • For the duration of this Agreement, the employer agrees to continue to provide the same health insurance benefits as those in effect under the Interior Installation Services Glaziers Plan A (low deductible plan 2021) hereinafter referred to as “Glaziers Plan A (low deductible 2022)”. The Employer shall pay 100% of the premium for its health insurance plan coverage for eligible full-time employees at the rate of $8.40/hour.
    • The Glaziers Plan A (low deductible) rate of $8.40/hour will remain unchanged for the duration of this agreement.

Additional Coverage Language:

  • Add: A mandatory employee and spouse (if applicable) HRA will be required to ensure coverage at $8.40/hr. Failure to complete this testing by the employee and/or spouse, will result in a 25% cost share to the employee for coverage. This premium will be deducted weekly from the paycheck.
    • HRA’s can be completed from May 1st – October 31st at several Bellin locations or through their personal doctor.
  • Add: Employee is responsible for self-enrollment and qualifying event submission online in the Vista portal; failure to self-enroll may result in ineligibility. Notifications will be sent via email to the company email address to notify about enrollment dates and information.
  • Add: Employee is responsible for the weekly cost of the insurance premiums for any leave greater than 30 days. This will include periods of layoff, short term disability, absence from work and FMLA. This premium will be deducted, in full, from the first check following the leave. The employee also may pay via check and mail to the payroll department. Rates for the payment will be calculated off the current health rate premium (i.e., $8.40/hr. x 40 hours = $336/week).
  • Add: The employee will become a member of a non-covered class and lose plan eligibility after they are temporarily absent from work due to an approved leave of absence for medical or other reasons, the coverage under this Plan will continue during that leave for up to 90 days, provided the applicable Employee contribution is paid when due. Cobra insurance options will be mailed to the employee, at that time.
  • Other Insurance (Vision, Dental, Life and Long/Short Term Disability Insurance – Page 13, paragraph 8
    • Add: Coverage options, rates, limitations, and other applicable information shall be determined per the Employer’s current Benefit Guide.
  • Remove the language on page 13, Article 18, Optional Health Insurance Options that gives the Glazier the option of plan A or plan B – as IIS is offering plan A
  • Short Term Disability (benefits book only):
    • Current: This benefit covers the employee’s pay at 100% for up to 6 weeks for a qualifying illness or injury.
    • New: This benefit covers the employee’s pay at 60% for up to 6 weeks for a qualifying illness or injury.

Per Diem

Per-Diem increase to $40/day in and out of state. Per-Diem will continue to be paid in advance

Hotel Rooms

Hotel expenses will be based on double-occupancy and arranged for and paid by the Employer. Foreman hotel expense will be based on single-occupancy and arranged for and paid by the Employer. On the day of return, the evening meal is excluded unless the employee is unable to return before 7:00 p.m., in which case, he /she shall be paid for dinner. Time required for meals shall not be paid as working time.

Union Proposal (agreed to by IIS/Mavid)

If an employee is required to work in a jurisdiction where the Glaziers package rate is less than the package rate set forth in Article 5 of this collective bargaining agreement and an overnight stay is required, the Glazier is to be paid $1.00 per hour extra.

Wages

  • Wages Year 1: $2.50/hr. increase
  • Wages Year 2: $2.50/hr. increase
  • Wages Year 3: $2.25/hr. increase
